Here's an announcement we weren't expecting today. EA has just announced The Sims 4, the hugely popular life sim, will become free-to-play in the near future.
Posting on its social channels earlier today, the publisher confirmed the base game will be free across all platforms starting 18th October 2022:
Of course, the game's myriad post-launch content packs won't be free, so you'll still need to cough up if you want those, but the basic Sims 4 experience won't cost you anything moving forward. Developer Maxis says it'll continue to support the title with even more DLC in future, so the long-lived game isn't done yet. More details will come during a special stream, also airing on 18th October.

That's cool but their commitment to more dlc in the future pretty much dashes any hopes of getting a new installment. Which is a bummer.
This will be cool to download and Check out!!. We own the PC version in my house hole so it will be interesting to see the differences
Please stop with more and more DLC.
The base game will keep updated and it took my PS4 storage, it made me worried about my PS4 storage GB remaining.
Already have it on pc with majority of the dlc and on disc for ps4 but this is great for people who haven't played it yet I guess
I mean, the base game is worthless so......
It really needs a new installment at this point. Too much in sims 3 needs to come back.
They should give people that purchased it some free dlc
